The Presets – Apocalypso (2008)

Apocalypso follows on from their debut, which was centered mainly about the big themes of the dancefloor – dancing and sex. The record sees the duo adopt a ‘future pagan’ sound, and it’s something of a winner. Dark undercurrents, chants and immense house action provide a winning combination on tracks such as This Boy’s In Love (you may have seen the video, featuring young men wrestling in milk) or the podium friendly, My People. It’s like a giant goth disco full of elegance, masks and sweat. In fact, Julian and Kim could invade any country at whim with this material, and will find many followers kissing their feet. Utterly amazing. bbc
