Clytem Scanning – Clytem Scanning (2010)

Hailing from Paris, Clytem Scanning’s new self-titled EP has just been released for free via Bedroom Research. The four track release contains dark ambient soundscapes and some stark industrial-esque electronic sounds without the overt harshness that would normally be associated with the genre.
Scanning’s own haunting vocals – at times reminiscent of Bjork or Alison Goldfrapp – pierce, dominate and reflect devilishly coy lyrics that draw the listener in by touching your curiosity – it makes me feel a little scared. Kraftwerk scared. The mantra running throughout the opener “Hold My Hand” is a prime example of words that invite, but also run cold in their execution.¬† easymusicfordifficultears
