Tipper – The Seamless Unspeakable Something (2006)

From the very Tipper-esque, lacsidaisical beats and glitches of the leading track “Whomi” to the expansive tribal timpani ping-pong of “Sponge Mallet”, then later finishing with the slow, analog breakbeats, drifting strings and echoed hits of “Everything Is Everywhere” the sounds at play throughout this album change their personality with every track… properlychilled

ASC – Archival01 EX.EP (2011)

Prolific producer James Clements aka ASC reaches into his hard drive circa 2009 for the ‘Archival:01 EX.EP’. Technically speaking, it’s not an LP, but longer than an EP, checking a range of intricate IDM/D&B hybrids constructed with his signature dexterity. Our highlights have to be the swooping, subs-driven ‘Entelechy’, the Hi-Tech ruffige of ‘The Alchemist’, ‘Spillway’s mercurial rhythmic flux or the A.I. rave emotions of ‘Neon’, but we think his fans will will be mad for them all. boomkat

Spleen United – Godspeed Into The Mainstream (2005)

The Danish indie/alternative scene has been blossoming as of late. In the last couple of years a lot of respected, although often internationally unknown, bands have surfaced, challenging Kashmir and Mew’s place on Denmark’s alternative rock throne (if there is such a things). To mention a few The Figurines, Veto and Spleen United are such names. While these bands have enjoyed a fair amount of success inside the borders, they never seem to amount to much internationally. Danish music elitists often write off pretty much all Danish bands as derivative and unoriginal. Admittedly few Danish bands, arguably only Mew actually, have a well-defined and unique sound. Talented as most of them are, it’s not that hard for detractors to find arguments for writing them off as Radiohead and Jeff Buckley wannabes. The emotional falsetto of these alternative rock icons has definitely caught on in Denmark. sputnikmusic
